The place I first called home...

To say that I just got to spend 8 days in the most beautiful home in the world feels like I'm bragging -- well, if that's the case, so be it!

I had not been home in a year, and I'm pretty sure Mommacita looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if certain paint colors were different, or if certain pictures had always been hanging there... a year is a long time!

Well, I was blown away by momma's interior design prowess and figured it'd only be fair to take you on a tour of the home that I grew up in -- even if it did some growing up of its own once I moved out.

(This post will also be good reference for me so that I don't seem like such a stranger the next time I come home!)

Our laundry room is affectionately referred to as "the gallery." I would never in a million years consider myself an artist, but my parents love the pieces... eye of the beholder and all that.

I did actually win third place for one of my paintings at the Festival of the Arts... I think I was in the 4th grade when I painted the flower in the pot.

And now that I think about it, my drawing of the seal was displayed during a student showcase at the Mint Museum of Art. I giggle so hard when I look at it now and see that I wrote in the words "brain fish." I wanted people to know that those were the machine's brain - not just random fish. Can we tell the analytical side of my brain was desperately trying to get out?

Y'all, even our garage is fancy. I could just squeeze my momma. I love the detail & thought she puts in to every part of our home!

Even though a lot has changed since I claimed this house as my permanent address, it still feels like home! Everything about it is warm, cozy and comfortable. It's a place where stories are told, hearts are nurtured and memories are made... Okay, I need to stop before I start crying.

It was so wonderful to be home, and I'm already itchin' to go back. Oh, one other thing, my accent is also much stronger than it was before the break. Forgive me if I don't try to make it subtle once again. There's nothing better than a sweet Carolina accent. It sounds like home to me!

xoxo,
E
