Walk with Me... But Wear Socks Please

My parents have been absolutely wonderful throughout this entire home buying process. They've been the financing behind many, many of the home improvements. My favorite "renovation" so far is the refinished hardwoods!

BEFORE
You can see the original dark stain under the cans - it was a DIY job, so it was not even at all. I think I might have squealed a little when I saw the untreated wood after they sanded away the stain. The wood is stunning! They're the original hardwoods from the 1940s.

IN PROGRESS
I love dark hardwoods, but I'd be lying if I said part of me didn't consider keeping the natural wood when I saw how beautiful they were after the sanding job!

AFTER
I love, love, LOVE my chestnut stained hardwoods! I remember many times growing up when my mom would say "be careful" or "don't walk on the hardwoods in your tap shoes, please," and I would think "oh they'll be fine!" Well, now that I own my own home - with my own hardwoods - I am probably MORE cautious (read: paranoid and OCD) than she ever was.

Feel free to come take a walk through my new place... but leave your tap shoes at home if you please.
xoxo, E
