She did a little shopping...

As I said, I had one of the best weekends with Mommacita over the 4th of July. Not only did we see Broadway shows, but we took some time to tour the city, and of course, there was shopping.

This is going to be a picture-heavy post, so buckle up... Let's start with the fun stuff: the shopping swag!

Who doesn't love a great little Kate Spade bag? My favorite detail is in the strap -
one side is the bright coral color, the other is electric pink!
***
Speaking of electric pink - take a look at these shoes! I've been drooling over them for a couple weeks.

***
What girl doesn't love some new jewelry?
***
Hey there, pretty. Kate Spade did well!
***
Now onto the sightseeing portion of the trip! All aboard the open-air bus!
***
Ever since I started my job at Downtown OKC, I've become much more aware of the "happenings" in other cities. I got so excited when I saw the Citi Bike bike-share stations in NYC - Momma was adorable and started pointing out the stations as we passed them!
 ***
You guys, they even have stoplights for the bike lane! Adorbs!
***
I totally fell in love with this public art piece we spotted on our tour.
 ***
Can we pause and talk about the pop-up parks? Oh, the lovely little parks.
I want all of these in Downtown OKC.

***
Now, on to your typical NYC pics!

One World Trade Center

 ***
Hey Brooklyn baby
 ***
"You'll stay up, 'til this dump shines like the top of the Chrysler Building!"
Name that movie...  "Annie" of course!!
***
Oh, New York, I miss you already!! Until next time... xoxo, E

Thought-Filled Tuesday

I had originally planned to start a new series on the blog today. However, I was a little preoccupied in NYC and forgot to discuss with Momma - and she's going to be my first feature. Sorry folks! Be on the lookout next week!

Instead, here's my thought-filled Tuesday. Or as some might call it, a total brain dump.
  • I am pretty darn sore today. That's what yesterday's lunchtime Zumba and after work Barre3 will do to a girl. It's all going to be worth it though!
  • Last night, Vicky and I knocked out a bunch of details for her October wedding. I can say without any hesitation that the details of her wedding are going to be outstanding. With a goal of not doing what's all over Pinterest (not that there's anything wrong with that), there are definitely going to be some creative ideas at this shindig.

  • On a semi-related note, Brandi agreed last night to help me with the event setup for Vicky's wedding. She doesn't quite know what she's in for. But it's going to be SO gorgeous once every favor is in place... every (surprise filled) balloon is inflated... every napkin is folded into the perfect "Kate Spade bow." Can't back out Brandi - you already accepted the calendar request! ::wink wink::
  • My dad gave me his really nice digital camera to use for a while - so be expecting a beautifully photographed recap of my NYC trip later this week.
  • As for now, here's the Instagram recap! This was one of the best trips Mommacita and I have had to date. I was not ready to come home at all. And there might've been a few tears shed once I got home on Sunday.
Momma and I hit the streets of NYC decked out in red, white & blue for the 4th of July.

We also had our new Kate Spade bags - twinsies to the max!
The fireworks by the Hudson River were awesome. It was a humid evening, but such a fun memory!
We spent the first half of our Friday and Saturday on an open air bus tour of lower and upper Manhattan.

On Friday, we saw my darling friend Daniel in "Motown." He's the one in the hat. Turns out I knew 2 more people in the show as well. I first met Tiffany (also in the picture with Daniel and me) the same summer I met Daniel! Crazy small world. The guy in the red shirt was the lead in "Motown." Such a nice guy! We chatted while I waited for Daniel to come out of the theatre.

Momma loves her Daniel. We've seen him in 3 of the 4 Broadway shows he's done, and we will be going back this Winter for his new show!!

Food interlude: No trip to NYC would be complete without a stop at Serendipity. Brandi requested macaroon cookies from some hoity-toity Parisian bakery on the Upper East Side. Momma and I took this opportunity to try these delicate cookies for the first time. Not bad!

Our final show of the trip was "Kinky Boots." I've been listening to 2 of the songs from the show non-stop. They're so catchy - gotta love Cyndi Lauper!
Coming up this week: (1) Pretty picture NYC recap (2) Kate Spade Madison Ave. flagship store run down (3) Five Things Friday

Happy Tuesday friends! xoxo, E

Imaginary Well Dressed Daughter

There's a Pinterest board that's getting a lot of attention - and for good reason. "My Imaginary Well-Dressed Toddler Daughter" chronicles the life of "Quinoa" and her fashionable friends. If you need a giggle, or something to help pass the time, check it out! She's also on Twitter.

The captions are without a doubt the best part - and have had me legitimately laughing out loud!

Oh man, as a girl who loves big hair and the occasional tease-fest, this last one had me laughing so hard!
It's back-to-work today, but I'll be sure to recap our awesome weekend in NYC while I avoid unpacking! xoxo, E

5 Things Friday (Couple Days Early)

I'm jumping on a plane tomorrow morning - far too early for this non-morning person - and on the other end of my sky trip will be a long weekend in NYC with Mommacita!! So. Freakin'. Excited.

So, since I'll be "out of the office" on Friday, I decided to do my "5 Things Friday" a couple days early!

1. Have you heard of a Cronut?

Well, I heard about it twice this past weekend (then a third time when Carly blogged about them here) The second time was when Momma sent this text:
Remember when I said I wasn't a morning person? Well, I can always make an exception for a few things, especially a girls weekend with Momma and yummy food. We'll see you bright and early Mr. Dominique Ansel!

2. If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen your fair share of Roo pics, my favorite puppy these days. Although he is Ferr's dog, I think he prefers me. Don't you think?

3. We went to the Frontier Country Annual Awards luncheon last week and 3 of our events/programs won awards! I was particularly proud of the award that Starlight Supper received.
Bird's-eye view of Starlight Supper. It's still my favorite event that I've planned!

4. I saw this on Pinterest the other day and it really stuck with me. Let's be better than our bad day!

 5. I'm starting a new series on the blog next week, and I'm super excited! Here's a little preview...

Have a great 4th of July weekend! xoxo, E

Road Trippin' to the Big D

One of my favorite things to do is take a road trip. I think my love of hitting the open road started when I was in college. When you're making a 17 hour drive to/from NC to/from OK - and that one summer from OK to CA and back - it's inevitable you'll fall in love with the experience. Because, let's face it, the only other option is to be miserable in the car. That's not our style.

Back to my original statement, I love road trips. This past weekend, I jumped on I-35S and was bound for Dallas. The Big D is one of my favorite cities for sure. The shopping and restaurants are great - and it's fun to have a mini-adventure outside of my dear, sweet Oklahoma. Plus, I had a couple projects in mind that only Dallas could help me achieve.

First stop: Ikea.
I have mastered Ikea furniture assembly in the past - example, the white tv stand (partially) pictured below - so when I noticed I had an awkward corner in my living room that "just needed something" and I remembered these lovelies from Rachel at Pencil Shavings, and I just knew an Ikea shelf would be the answer to my dilemma!
Isn't this how every Ikea project looks in the beginning?

The finished product - now all I need to do is spray paint the frame and accessorize
the shelves to my little heart's content.
I've got my eye on some new frames to add to the mix! Specifically thisthis, oh and this one too. I'm pretty sure I've got a set of books that these would look great on either end of. Can you tell I'm a little in love with Jonathan Adler? Especially his Happy Chic line for JCP!

I can also add another "new taste" to my 25 while 25 list after this weekend. I finally tried Eggs Benedict - and I have to say, I'm a fan!

One of my other Dallas projects for the weekend was to spend the Crate & Barrel housewarming gift card that Uncle Bill and Aunt Lynn sent me. I've been dreaming of a waffle maker ever since Mommacita and I went to Florence. Well, the time - and free money - had come to make this dream a reality.

I cannot wait to get this baby warmed up and cranking out waffles.
Who wants to come over for breakfast, dinner or a snack?!

So excited to hop on a jet plane to meet Mommacita in NYC on Thursday!! xoxo, E

A 25w25 Goal Completed!

Number 23 on my "25 while 25" list is complete!
As a reminder, #23 is "Take a day and walk all seven of the downtown districts."

I took a photographer with me to help document the journey - we started the walk around 8:15pm,
so I apologize for the darker shots towards the end. Post-sunset walking meant cooler temps, but
poorer pics!
District #1: Automobile Alley - corner of 9th and Broadway

District 2: Park Plaza - my favorite clock tower

District 3: Arts District - Oklahoma City Museum of Art

District 4: Film Row

District 5: Central Business District - the lovely and historic Colcord Hotel.
Let's not talk about the people sitting in the restaurant and on the patio to my right.
I'm sure they were thinking "Why the heck is that girl taking pictures of herself? And why
is she holding up the number 5?"

District 6: Bricktown -
Let's also not talk about how I was standing in the middle of the street posing for this pic.

District 7: Deep Deuce - love these lights at LEVEL

Okay, so Midtown isn't technically a downtown district, but I love it so much.
I simply had to include it in my urban walk route!
(Side note: This has to be one of the ugliest spots in Midtown - but I love the huge sculpture for the pic)

It feels really good to already have something checked off my "25 while 25" list. Wahoo!!
Happy Monday! xoxo, E
