5 Things Friday

Sometimes you have one of those weeks where there are so many moments that need to be frozen in time with a photo! This was one of those weeks.

1. I spent Wednesday night with my favorite little princess. We dined on delicious Chick-fil-a, watched a movie, played with puzzles & the etch a sketch, and took lots of silly selfies.

2. I mailed January's Lettered Letters... in February.

3. My mom sent me a surprise in the mail that had me playing dress-up with a flamingo. One of the outfits is for the Olympics... obviously... and the other is for when it's time to PARTAY!!

4. We had way too much fun cleaning the office yesterday morning. I may have allowed my arm to be twisted hard enough that I agreed to try on Jill's wedding dress. (Long story for why it was at the office.) Once I had it on, we had a good laugh -- well, they had a good laugh at my facial expressions. I think it was a combination of "Holy crud, I have a wedding dress on." and "OMG I have a wedding dress on!" The little girl in me was feeling like a princess, the grown-up was freaking out.

I had a good giggle at how ridiculous I was being. I'm convinced the latter reaction is one that can't be helped. The idea of getting married right now makes me break out in nervous hives. Note: I'm listening to "Little Black Dress" by Sara Bareilles right now. I'm definitely going to stick with the LBD.

5. My mom sent me so many pictures this week that I hadn't ever seen before! Too many for a Throwback Thursday post on Instagram, so they get their own feature on 5 Things Friday...

I definitely got a little teary when I saw this picture of me and my big sis. Talk about admiration - it's right there on my face! Even if we are only half-sisters, she always treated me with full love and made me feel oh so special. She still does!

Not sure where those glasses came from, but I was rocking them for sure. And hey there Michelin Man arms!

It's so much fun to look back at old pictures - especially ones like these that I hadn't seen before.

This last one is of Momma and Paw Paw. I love it so much. Momma is seriously going after that bottle and my paw paw looks so handsome and breezy. I wish more than anything I could've had the chance to meet him, but I adore every story my Nanny tells me!

Have you been watching the winter olympics? I am absolutely loving them!! My stomach is in knots watching so many of the events though. These athletes are incredibly brave - and maybe a touch insane for doing what they do...

Happy Valentine's Day love bugs!

5 Things Friday

[One]
The gifts are wrapped and resting by the fireplace. I can't believe that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away - AND that I get to go home a week from tomorrow for the first time in a year!! I am so thankful that we are off the week of Christmas, and I get to have 8 days in Carolina.

Kimmy is absolutely creeped out by the Elf on the Shelf, so naturally I had to have some fun with her phobia the other night. Just call me Missy... it's short for Mischievous!

[Two]
We went snow tubing last week with our staff and friends. Our buddies at Yelp also joined us and Chris snapped some great photos, as always. The weather was perfect and we had such a great time! I'm sure you can tell by looking at the pictures, but there was a lot of screaming and squealing as we went down the slopes!

[Three]
I am absolutely obsessed with white Christmas trees right now. OBSESSED. All of my favorite blog and instagram follows have been showing off their white trees, and I need one. Momma has been helping me scout out locations to check for after Christmas sales. This year, a white tree will be mine.

[Four]
Since this last week has been a total flop in achieving a couple of my #25w25 goals (calligraphy class was canceled due to weather - but is rescheduled for this Sunday - and I couldn't give blood because it hadn't been long enough since my latest melanoma diagnosis), I made it a point to try a couple of new tastes this week.

Marshall let me have a bite of beets off his salad at lunch this week, and Ferris convinced me to try raw tuna at our sushi dinner after recording some new ad spots for the Spy. I must admit, I didn't love either, but I'm willing to give them another go.

[Five]
We have the SandRidge Santa Run this weekend. This picture is from last year's event, and is one of my favorites! Thankfully, most of the ice from last weekend's storm has melted and the streets are ready for our runners. I'm praying that the event goes wildly smooth this weekend. Once we get through this one, we're pretty much home free for the remainder of the season!

[Bonus Things]
In case you missed it, check out this awesome project from the Mimi Foundation. It helped me realize a few things about myself following my cancer diagnoses.

I'm obsessed with the caricature that Chris did for me to give to Ferr for Christmas. It's pretty darn perfect!

Speaking of Christmas gifts... while out shopping for some gifts, I found myself on the toy aisle looking at Monster High Dolls. Foxie Moxie told me about them, and I just knew she'd love this skirt. After all, she is my fashion consultant.

I can't believe we're nearing the end of our Downtown in December busy time -- what an awesome ride it's been again this year!

I'm really excited - giddy, actually - for my calligraphy class on Sunday. And then the countdown officially begins for the trip home!

5 (Glorious) Things Friday

1. I got to attend Shop Hop as just Elizabeth this month, not "Elizabeth the event coordinator." It was super fun! I still put on that hat a couple of times... like when I pulled extra event maps out of my purse for a shop keeper, while shopping in her store. Large handbag for the win!

There is a new men's shop on Automobile Alley, and it's beyond amazing. All you have to do is talk to Lukus for a few moments and the passion that he has for serving his target market is apparent. To hear him talk about selecting the best products, emailing the designers directly, as well as getting to touch, see and experience the quality and craftsmanship of the products, well, it's a pretty special thing. I am hardcore campaigning for this "pop-up" shop to become a permanent staple in downtown Oklahoma City.

Erik and I met up for a quick bite at Red PrimeSteak before doing a little shopping. Even though we don't get to see each other very often, when we do get together, it's a blast! I'm not sure he's ever walked into a Happy Hour date without a "just because" gift in hand. Last night's was particularly special - handmade card, Jonathan Adler task clips & "E" gifts. Does the boy know me or does he know me? #MonogramObsessed

Yes, that's a googly-eye as the "i" dot in his name. I couldn't stop giggling. The large "E" is actually a book, so cool!

2. Of course, I got home from Shop Hop last night and my second-wind hit me. I got a lot done around the house.
  • All the clothes that had (once again) piled up on my guest bed are now put away
  • I finally put felt (that I bought WEEKS ago) on the feet of my dining room chairs
  • I organized the "work table" in my laundry room, that has quickly become the "catch all table"
  • I organized all of the papers that had collected on my desk and kitchen counter
  • I also rearranged the lovelies on my refrigerator. I bet you can't tell that I love photo booth photos... I have a few more at the office that I need to add to my mini-collection.

3. Downtown in December is officially here - and have you ever seen cuter event signage? I'm obsessed.

4. My aunt is doing something new for the family Thanksgiving this year. She's doing a thanks-giving tree, and we each got 3 leaves with the directive to write what we're thankful for on the back. Even though I won't be in N.C. for Thanksgiving, for the first time ever, I still got to participate. I hope my leaves arrive in time - work with me USPS!

5. I saw this ditty while scrolling through Instagram the other night. As we prepare for a month of various "pop-up shops" in downtown, full of wonderfully creative people doing fabulously creative things, this caught my eye.

If you ask me, this applies to life, love, art, experiences, opportunities -- all of it!

Have a great weekend!

5 Things Friday

1. I added a "new taste" to my 25 while 25 list last week. I tried duck at a March of Dimes event! Eight of Oklahoma City's best chefs each prepared a course for the event. You read that right, it was an eight course dinner. Yum yum! Turns out, I actually liked the duck a lot.

2. I also added another recipe to my 25 while 25 list! Jilly taught me how to make her baked brie. Yes, that's yummy fig spread on top. We are definitely cheese lovers in our group of friends, so this brie was devoured within minutes.

3. All of the holiday catalogs have started showing up in my mailbox. I'm not complaining, but I am currently wanting all of these lovelies from Patagonia!

Oh, and J.Crew pulled me in too...

4. I put two more #LetteredLetters in the mail this week! I took a handmade approach for two very special ladies.

5. I love sweet potatoes - LOVE them - but I cannot eat sweet potato pie. It's a texture thing for me. But look at this sliced sweet potato pie from the latest issue of Southern Living! This baby needs to be baking in my oven ASAP. Anyone want to come over and participate in my taste kitchen experiment?

Have a great weekend! We're off to a friends wedding in Arkansas tomorrow. Four girls in a car for 4 hours -- yep, it's going to be trouble!

5 Things Friday

So, we're going to go a different direction this week with 5 Things Friday -- Let's focus on 5 things from the past week that I'm obsessed with and can't stop thinking about!!

1. Ben Rector... I'm sorry, did you hear me? BEN RECTOR!!
The concert was absolutely amazing. Not only is he just as phenomenal live as he is on his record, but the boy can also put on a show! I was loving all of the light cues, AND he's funny! Look out, I'm in love.

Watch a snipit of my favorite song (and one of those awesome light cues) here! As you can see from my Twitter feed, I wasn't excited at all...

2. Jenny made a couple ear warmers for us to keep warm this holiday season - and Miss Foxie Moxie set the bar pretty high for how to wear it and how to pose.

3. I finally put some more decor up on my walls!! My Hot Skwash were also added to the dining room table. Thanksgiving is coming!! If you're in the OKC area, you can get similar pumpkins - and an adorable acorn, like the one I have below - at Plenty Mercantile!

4. Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed -- OBSESSED -- with Nick Collison. Well, I was sitting at a stop sign downtown, and guess who pulled up behind me?! All of my "creeper pic" taking skills came in mighty handy! Captured this photo of him via my rear view mirror!

5. I put my first envelope for #LetteredLetters in the mail this week -- and I made the list of 100 people I plan to send letters to! Obviously, this list will change, but I feel like I've already accomplished something in the project by making the list.

This first letter went to Baby Tripp. He's a tough little guy who's been fighting pretty hard ever since he entered the world. I've been keeping up with his progress via a sorority sister's Facebook - he's her cousin's little boy. For some reason, I really felt like it was important for Tripp to get the first letter in this series!

I think I'm going to start putting up my Christmas decor this weekend -- I'm so excited!! It's gotten pretty chilly in OKC this week, so it already feels like the holidays outside as well.

Have a great weekend!
